Walking across a creek at Hocking Hills State Park
What? Another camping blog?
Yep! Why not? I’m a writer at heart (and by trade for years) and it comes naturally that if I enjoy something, I’ll want to write about it. I’ve been a few years now without a hobby blog and I was feeling the twitch. Camping is what I’ve enjoyed most this past year and the challenge of coming up with some great posts and some great recipes to share with readers was one I couldn’t pass up.
So Who Am I, Anyway?
I’m a divorced mom of two fantastic preschoolers who is rediscovering a love for all things outdoors. The kids and I live a couple of hours away from their dad, so he gets them most weekends. That means my weekends are mostly free. Add a tent, some gear, a good friend who loves to camp and a state that is simply packed full of fantastic state parks and camping is the thing to do.
I’ve been away from the outdoors for the better part of a decade, but it’s in my blood. I grew up in a family that had the boat on the trailer and a cooler packed so we could head to the lake for a night of fishing when my dad got off work. I served my years as a Girl Scout, making coffee can grills and learning to build the perfect fire. I also spent the better part of my teen years as a competitive .22 and air rifle shooter, including a stint at the Junior Olympics and a few years as an NCAA athlete for Ohio State University’s rifle team.

As a grown-up forced to live in the real world with a real job, I’m a social media marketer. I’ve spent the last five years as editor in chief of a site called Search Engine Guide. Search Engine Guide is a site dedicated to helping small business owners learn how to market themselves via search engine optimization, social media, blogs and a variety of other online techniques. I’m also the Director of Marketing at SiteLogic, an online marketing agency based in Canton, Ohio.
What Will You Find Here?
Sure I’ll talk about camping! That’s the whole point of this blog. But I’ll also talk about things to do outdoors, the gear I have (and wish I had) and the food. Oh the glorious yumminess that is camp food. Not just s’mores and campfire stew…I’m talking REAL food. Get yourself a good camp stove and you can eat just as well in nature as you do at home. Better if you subscribe to the belief that everything tastes better outdoors.
I’ll never promise you this blog will teach you everything you want to know about camping. Heck, I don’t even know a tiny little percentage of what there is to know about camping! What I will do, is try my best to share my experiences, my insight and probably some of my trial and error to make your own camping trips just a little more fun and a little more exciting.
Come along for the ride…my tent is big enough for everyone!
